The Hardware wizard should only ever come up if there has been a change to the hardware that is installed on the system.
The most common occurance, is when a network card is changed. The system will automatically see that the old card has been removed. It will prompt you if you would like to remove the configuration.

If you know the correct IP address info for the card which was removed, then you can go ahead and say  YES, to remove the config.  Obviously, if you don't know the IP info, its best to IGNORE or  DO NOTHING, otherwise you will be stuck with a network configuration that you cannot complete.

The Hardware wizard is normally very specific about what it is doing. It will tell you exactly what New device is being detected or removed. If you unsure about whether to remove something or not, its always a good policy to leave the config in place.

One of the most common mistakes that are made is when the internal network card is being changed. Please remember that if you are changing the internal card on a machine, it does not require you to put in a GATEWAY and DNS Servers. You only have to put in the IP ADDRESS and SUBNET MASK.
